Traffic rules are something everyone should be aware of as, after all, they are made for us and not against us. If we follow them, they'll only benefit us. So we decided to create an awareness campaign, with several actions, to promote road safety.

The school has been actively promoting road safety awareness drive from past 10 years. As pupils get promoted from primary level to middle level and begin to move independently on the road, we felt the need for age appropriate road safety handbook to be integrated with the school curriculum for developing awareness. The handbook has been drafted by 15 years old road safety volunteers of grade 11.

Road accidents are one of the leading causes of deaths globally. We, students of DP 1 begun a service project- Road Safety Awareness In Underprivileged Students. The primary aim of the project was to spread awareness about Road Safety, to the children of the Akshar Foundation. This NGO provides free education to underprivileged students in our city, Gurugram, and we believed that we could do our part and help teach the students, specifically educating them pertaining to this increasingly relevant topic, especially when our cities grow larger, and more centred around transport.

ALERT TODAY, ALIVE TOMORROW

A concern for road safety and traffic negligence grows in India day after day. A rise in population and increased urbanization over the past 70 years, incidents of road rage and violence have become common headlines. To spread awareness and confront frequent malpractices students took to the streets with plays, songs, slogans and jingles attracting the public’s attention and instigating action to subvert deviants.

 

We decided to work on the topic The Future of Cities. In this area, we decided to work on with the title "Road Safety and the Housing Problems in Mumbai". We realized that the current housing systems in Mumbai are one of the root causes of the traffic problems in Mumbai. We did a study on the problems that are faced by the residents of Mumbai. 

We wanted to make people aware that we should all be following the traffic rules. To express our concerns about people not following the rules, we conducted a survey, asking many teachers if they follow rules, followed by two models and one rap song. We intend to and are determined to make more and more people aware of what can happen if you don’t follow the traffic rules.

 

To try and mitigate as much as road accidents we could, we thought of devising an app which could monitor the (health conditions) check of the driver. The drones further help us for surveillance and help detect any potential risk.

Our team consists of students of physics, chemistry, and biology in a group. We have seen that people often cannot see the speed breaker while they are driving a vehicle due to absence or faded white paints. We came across an interesting solution to overcome this problem, using phosphorescent paint, paint that glows in the dark, that would make more visible the signboards and markings on the road.

Safety of school children in vans has emerged as a cause of social concern. All stakeholders parents, students, van drivers and school authorities have become vigilant towards the safety of students travelling by vans. It has also raised the level of awareness of the students, ensuring their safety. 

These young teenagers are the torch bearers of safety on the road. They are young agents of change who realize that rights have implied responsibilities with them especially when it comes to the most precious gift of ‘Life’, respecting your own as well as of others. The pedestrians on road are most prone to accidents and especially small children who run mindlessly on roads leaving wailing parents behind .Our project ‘Sentinels of Road Safety’ aims at educating these young children about correct behavior when they are on roads through role play, road walk, educational advertisements and videos , educational road safety games, worksheets, making posters etc.

Realizing the gravity of the problem of road safety in India, we realized that an elaborate and efficient working model was to be introduced at the school level which may as well have a large outreach to parents and other actors of change. By an all-inclusive program, Teachers-Parents-Authorities-Students have been congregated by deliberation and sensitization.

Everyday many people are involved in road accidents. Some are killed. Many more are injured or maimed. So it is important for us to learn how to use the roads properly and safely. Hence, road safety education plays an important role .

D.LDAVMS Pitampura organized a Road Safety Campaign in collaboration with Traffic Police Personnel of our zone to sensitize students on safe pillion driving and to obey safety rules on road.

Each hour in India a road accident occurs. This is an issue that is totally avoidable with the conscious and responsible effort of road users. We've strived hard to spread the message of choosing a joyful life over the perils of accidents.

Expansion of the city of Delhi compels students to adopt different means of transport to commute to and from school. A number of safety issues arose; our task was to raise awareness about safe mobility while traveling, thus building a safe community.

Traffic congestion around schools is a common problem when there are several other schools in the vicinity. The cause is not just one. Schools adopt different strategies, like mapping of roads and initiatives to handle the problem of road congestion.

Generally, when looking at the large masses of people in India, we notice little road safety awareness amongst people, so we wanted to target local people first in order to initiate a change in our system.

As global citizens, we all share the responsibility of making our roads safe and contribute towards sustainable existence by promoting green technology, customised infrastructure and avoiding all risky behaviours on and around roads.

Working together as a team made us learn new things about each other and learn new ways to promote road safety. We started following the traffic rules more ethically, and devoted ourselves fully to making sure others do too.
